Remaster of the classic Warfare game franchise
Warfare Legacy Collection is a premium strategy game developed by Con Artist Games. It is the official remastered version of the classic Warfare series of war games, introducing updated graphics and reworked gameplay mechanics. It includes both releases in this compilation, Warfare 1917 and Warfare 1944.
Similar to another classic favorite, Company of Heroes, or a more recent release like Commandos: Origins, Warfare Legacy Collection offers a military-themed experience that's inspired by real-life events during both World Wars. A demo version is also available to let newcomers experience what the gameplay will be like for themselves.
Warfare, reimagined
Warfare 1917 and Warfare 1944 were some of the most iconic Flash games back in the late 2000s that offered a surprisingly violent yet realistic experience to fans of RTS games back in the day. Almost two decades later, surprise news about the series comes in the form of a remastered compilation that includes both titles, called the Warfare Legacy Collection.
The two subsequent games take place during WWI and WWII, respectively, and take a more simplistic yet impactful approach to gameplay. Instead of strategy and tactics, you will rely on numbers and brute force to accomplish your objectives, which involve occupying enemy territory, escorting convoys across the battlefield, and clearing minefields. Spend acquired command points on upgrades and unlock fire support.
Aside from the updated visuals, Warfare Legacy Collection lets you create custom battles, with your choice of locations and deployable units. There's also a new campaign inspired by the pivotal Battle of the Bulge. Now, as nostalgic as this release is for some, the gameplay has remained mostly the same, which is to say simplistic to a fault. Also, some game balance issues need to be addressed.
The definitive experience
Whether you're a returning long-time fan or you're coming into the franchise for the very first time, Warfare Legacy Collection offers the definitive experience, with updated visuals and even some new additions. The gameplay didn't get as much attention and has remained intact, for better or worse. Nevertheless, it's still worth checking out if you're curious about what it's like to play.
